It will come as no surprise that Sixth Form life is as much about what you are able and willing to put into it as it is about what you can take from it.
There are many challenges and opportunities, and it is up to you, working with your teachers, to make the most of these. Naturally, the prime aim is to equip you with the necessary skills, experiences, and qualifications to help you progress to the next stage of your education, employment, or training but there is a great deal of enrichment activity available to you. Where you are studying A-levels, BTECs or a combination of the two, you will need to make sure that you manage your time well if you are going to be successful whilst also pursuing a social life and, perhaps, a part-time job.
The Sixth Form centre has been designed to help with achieving the balance of work and socialisation, with social spaces downstairs and extensive study space upstairs.
There is a cafeteria for student use, selling hot and cold drinks as well as a range of food items. These are all available throughout the school day and include items unavailable from the other outlets in the school. There are opportunities to become involved in the Charity Committee, Duke of Edinburgh Award, learning support, sports, drama, music, trips abroad, open days, lecture visits, theatre trips – and more.
You will be assigned to a Form Tutor who will be your first point of contact daily and with whom you will spend tutor time with, following a tutorial activity programme and attending assemblies. Your subject teachers and the Senior Sixth Form team are also available to you, as well as a counsellor and careers adviser.
Spending a lot of time studying and taking an active part in lessons, many of which will require you to prepare material in advance, will be the foundation for your success.
However, you will also have the chance to socialise and have fun. We want your time in the Chase Sixth Form to be successful and full of happy memories. If you need help with anything at all, you only need to ask.
