From Award-Winner at The Chase to Olivier Award-Winning Designer!

Huge congratulations to former student Tom Scutt, who last night, Sunday 5 April 2025, won the Olivier Award for Best Set Design for Fiddler on the Roof at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre. The production also received the award for Best Musical Revival.

Tom’s creative journey began here at The Chase, where he studied Drama, English Literature and Art. In 2002, he was not only recognised with the Visual Arts Award at our annual awards evening but also won the prestigious Headteacher’s Award for A Level that same year.

Now a London-based director and designer, Tom’s work spans theatre, opera, dance, exhibitions and live music. He has collaborated with major names such as Christine and the Queens, The Pet Shop Boys, Sam Smith, Apple Music and MTV, and regularly designs for renowned venues including the National Theatre, Royal Court and Donmar Warehouse. He has also been nominated for a Tony Award for his work on Broadway.

Congratulations once again to Tom and the entire Fiddler on the Roof team – an inspiring reminder of where passion and creativity can lead.
