On Monday 20 January 2025, members of The Chase Eco Committee had the incredible opportunity to visit Worcester University to deliver a ‘Teach the Teacher’ session. The group was invited by Elena Lengthorn, Senior Lecturer at Worcester University, as part of the Education for Sustainable Development enrichment session for the entire PGCE cohort of teacher trainees.
This invitation followed the Eco Committee’s impactful work last year, when they delivered inspiring and thought-provoking presentations to staff at The Chase. Their sessions encouraged teachers to integrate learning about nature, climate change, temperature rises and sustainability into their everyday lessons. This initiative was turned into a film, which was shown to last year’s PGCE cohort and made such a positive impression that the Committee was invited to present in person this year.
Today’s presentation at Worcester University did not disappoint. The Chase Eco Committee captivated the teacher trainees with an engaging and powerful session, focusing on the urgent need for climate education in schools. The pupils shared their experiences of growing up during a climate emergency and explored ways to weave climate education into all aspects of the curriculum.
Their presentation was not only informative but also deeply inspiring, leaving a lasting impact on the future teachers in attendance. The Eco Committee highlighted the critical role educators play in empowering young people to understand and respond to the climate crisis.
Congratulations to The Chase Eco Committee for representing the school so brilliantly and for continuing to inspire change. Well done, Chase Eco!
