Language Ambassadors Host Primary School Pupils for European Day of Languages

On Wednesday 2 October, The Chase School library was alive with language and culture as we hosted our first Language Ambassador Afternoon. Over 20 enthusiastic Year 6 pupils from four local primary schools joined us for an engaging session inspired by the European Day of Languages, which is celebrated annually at the end of September.

The event was designed to promote the joy of learning languages and featured a variety of fun, interactive activities. With the assistance of several of our Year 10 French and Spanish students, the visiting pupils took part in a range of tasks, including creating colourful European flag bunting, practising their language skills by ordering food in a French café and playing bingo in Spanish.

The afternoon was met with overwhelmingly positive feedback from the visiting pupils, their teachers and The Chase students alike. It was wonderful to see the energy and enthusiasm of the Year 6 children as they engaged in the activities, and the professionalism and kindness of our Year 10 students as they guided their younger peers through the tasks.

Special thanks go to our Librarian, Anne Baynham, whose enthusiam and encouragement helped to make the event possible.

This inaugural event has set a fantastic precedent for similar activities in the future, and we look forward to building on this success to continue inspiring young learners to explore the world through languages.
