Peer Mentors

Peer mentoring logoWe are delighted to report that an enthusiastic group of Year 12 students signed up to become Peer Mentors earlier on this year. They committed to offer time on a weekly basis to check in and listen to Year 7 or Year 9 students and support their learning. We would like to thank them for their time and effort.

The Mentors play an important role in helping other students to settle in, build positive relationships and get the most out of school life.  They have been really dedicated and put a lot of time and thought in to helping their mentees. Prior to working with the students they completed training in interpersonal communication skills and safeguarding.  Once they are assigned a mentee they meet up on a weekly basis for six weeks offering one-to- one mentoring.

Noticeable outcomes from the sessions are improved attendance, behaviour, and confidence across the mentees.

Once Year 12 have completed their mock exams, our willing mentors will undertake another round of peer mentoring to help a fresh group of students.

Our mentors will have gained skills and experience through mentoring that they can evidence in their CVs and any future applications for university and employment.

Mr Jackson (TA Mentor) and Mrs Cridge (6th Form Administrator) both oversee the mentoring and have been very impressed with the attitude and commitment of all the mentors and would like to pass on their thanks to the following students for a successful term of mentoring.
