Character Education

At The Chase, students have a 25-minute Tutor Time each day, focusing on their personal development during their time at school. One way we achieve this is through a weekly Character Education lesson.

The purpose of Character Education is to help students practise all the skills they need to live in today’s society and become the person they aspire to be.

Below are some examples of the topics covered in Character Education at The Chase:

KS3:

  • Active Citizenship – exploring key characteristics needed to become a well-rounded individual, such as resilience, adaptability, respect and responsibility.
  • Self-esteem, courage and a 'time to talk' lesson.
  • Human Rights – understanding what they are and recognising examples of when they are denied.
  • Stereotyping and Prejudice.
  • Inspirational People Project.

KS4:

  • Active Citizenship – building on the KS3 themes in greater depth, with a focus on 'global citizenship'.
  • Citizenship – exploring the rule of law and democracy.
  • Protecting Yourself – learning about fraud, social engineering and money mules.
  • Online Safety – addressing issues such as problem gambling, sextortion and catfishing.
